Our story
We built the provider we wanted to ring.
Started on the Gold Coast in 2020, on one idea: most IT problems should be dealt with before anyone has to report them.
- 2020 Operating since
- 7+ Sectors worked in
- Local No offshore helpdesk
Sound familiar
The reason people ring us.
Nobody changes IT provider for fun. It is almost always the same handful of things.
- You only hear from them after something has gone down.
- You ring for help and get a ticket number, not a person.
- Backups run. Nobody has tested a restore in a year.
- Your setup was last reviewed the day it was installed.
How it started
From the other side of the helpdesk.
-
Before
It started with curiosity
Our founder Tane Brand ran IT in-house. It began as curiosity about how much better a business runs when the technology behind it is sorted, and turned into hands on work across networking, security and cloud.
-
2020
Coast IT starts, on the Gold Coast
Set up to work that way for other businesses. Monitoring, patching and backups run to a schedule rather than waiting on a phone call, so most things are dealt with before they interrupt anyone.
-
Since
Seven sectors and counting
Education, healthcare, finance, construction, retail, media and renewables among them. Different rules and different software, but usually the same underlying problem: a setup that grew one decision at a time.
None of it is really about fixing things. It is about someone knowing your setup well enough that less goes wrong, and being reachable when it does.
What we hold ourselves to
Three things, and you can hold us to all of them.
-
01
A person, not a queue
You get a named technician who knows your business as well as your network, so nothing has to be explained from scratch. Existing clients have response times written into their agreement, not implied by a marketing page.
-
02
Most of it, before you ring
Monitoring and patching run on a schedule, and alerts come to us rather than to you, so the majority of problems are handled before they reach anyone in your office. Not everything will be. When something does get through, you are not explaining your setup from scratch.
-
03
Local, and staying that way
Based on the Gold Coast, on site where being there is what fixes it, and no offshore helpdesk. Remote support covers the rest of Australia, but the person on the other end is here.
In practice
What proactive actually means.
Every provider says it. These are the parts that either happen or do not, so they are worth asking any provider about, including us.
-
Monitored around the clock
Servers, workstations and network gear report in continuously. Most faults raise an alert with us before anyone in your office notices.
-
Patched on a schedule
Workstation and server updates run to a plan, so a critical fix does not sit unapplied for a month waiting for someone to get to it.
-
Restores tested, not assumed
A backup that has never been restored is a hypothesis. Testing turns it into a fact you can rely on at the worst possible moment.
-
Reviewed on a set schedule
Business reviews cover what is ageing, what is coming and what it will cost, so capital spend is planned rather than triggered by a failure.
-
Aligned to the Essential Eight
Hardening follows the ACSC Essential Eight, which is the Australian benchmark and the one your insurer and your clients are most likely to ask about.
-
Documented properly
Your environment is written down and kept current. It is what makes a fast fix possible, and it is yours.

Let's have a look at your setup.
Thirty minutes, no obligation, plain answers. We will talk through what you have got, what is working and what is not.
Or send us a message
Got it, thanks.
Somebody will read this properly and come back to you. We get back to you within one business hour, Mon to Fri, and if you have sent it in the evening or over the weekend it will be the next business morning.
If something is down right now, do not sit and wait on us. Ring 1300 025 110 and we will pick it up.
That did not send.
Something went wrong at our end, so please ring 1300 025 110 or (07) 5638 1255, or email info@coastit.au. We would rather hear from you than lose the message.
